I have a Windows 7 64-bit computer that I'm trying to get MDB Viewer running on to view an access database (.accdb extension).
When I try to open the file, it says the provider is not found. Windows 7 does not use MDAC anymore, so my next thought was to install the Access Database Engine (64-bit) from Microsoft. This user has Office Standard (no MS Access) 2010 64-bit installed, so I cannot install the Access Database Engine 32-bit .
Is there another solution to this problem? I know that 64-bit windows has a 32-bit and 64-bit ODBC drivers/administration app.
I'm guessing that all this would probably work if MDB Viewer was built for 64-bit windows, so that it could use the Access Database Engine 64-bit? Or am I completely off base here?
Provider cannot be found.

yes you do need to install the Access Database Engine 2007 to open Accdb files. I'm using Windows 7 64bit myself and it works fine. I'll check whether the driver I'm using is 64bit.

It looks like you don't have Access 2007 database engine installed. MDB Viewer Plus makes use the Access 2007 database driver if installed. It can be downloaded from Microsoft.com
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=23734 This should allow you to open Accdb files. « Last edit by Alex Nolan on Sun May 06, 2012 5:01 pm. » |
